Identifying At-Risk Individuals
The Diabetes and Hypertension Screening Project was launched on August 9, 2023, in collaboration with municipal employees and Village Health Volunteers (VHVs) from groups 1-5 in the Na Mueang Subdistrict. The project, spearheaded by Ms. Prida Sukkho, a professional nurse practitioner representing the Na Mueang Subdistrict Health Promotion Hospital, aims to identify individuals at risk of developing diabetes and hypertension within the community.
Targeted Screening for Ages 35 and Above
Screening services are provided by Village Health Volunteers from groups 1-5 in the Na Mueang Subdistrict, specifically targeting individuals aged 35 and above. The project’s objective is threefold:
- Identify at-risk individuals for self-care advice
- Discover new patients requiring medical referral for treatment
- Prevent complications arising from untreated diabetes and hypertension
Community Education and Behavioral Changes
In addition to screening, the project also focuses on educating the community about diabetes and hypertension, emphasizing the importance of early detection and prevention. Encouraging behavioral changes in daily life is a crucial aspect of the project, helping individuals understand and manage their risk factors better to prevent the onset of these diseases.
Village Health Volunteer Campaign for Iodine Deficiency Prevention
Raising Awareness on the Importance of Iodine
The VHVs from groups 1-5 in the Na Mueang Subdistrict also launched the Iodine Deficiency Prevention Campaign to provide knowledge and raise awareness about the vital role of iodine in human health.
Iodine’s Role in Thyroid Hormone Production
Iodine is an essential element for the production of thyroid hormones, which play a critical role in brain development and overall body growth. The campaign highlights the significance of iodine supplementation in maintaining optimal health and preventing conditions caused by iodine deficiency.
Seeking Support from the Koh Samui Municipal Health Insurance Fund
