Opening Ceremony and Attendees
The Koh Samui Municipality participated in the opening ceremony of the new building for the Koh Samui Tourist Police Station on September 19, 2023. The event took place at 9:00 am at the Tourist Police Station 5, Division 2, Tourist Police Command 3, located in the Bo Phut Subdistrict, Koh Samui District. Mr. Sutham Samthong, the Deputy Mayor of Koh Samui, attended on behalf of the Mayor of Koh Samui.
The ceremony attracted a variety of attendees, including local government officials, municipal employees, and Koh Samui Tourist Police Station personnel. Representatives from public and private sector organizations, media personnel, and distinguished guests were also present.
Police Colonel Sukhun Prommayon, the commander of the Tourist Police, presided over the ceremony to inaugurate the new office building.
Ceremonial Activities and Blessings
The opening ceremony featured several traditional and symbolic activities to bless the new building and ensure good fortune. The program began with the worship of a Buddha image, followed by the unveiling of the building sign, which had been covered with a cloth. Monks from the local temple then took part in unveiling a large sign at the front of the building.
To further bless the new facility, holy water was sprinkled on the Buddha image inside the building. Finally, attendees witnessed the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the “Prommayon” conference room, located on the 2nd floor of the building, signifying an auspicious beginning for the new police station.
