Incident in Bangkok Townhouse
A 19-year-old man has been arrested following the grisly discovery of his French father, fatally beaten with a hammer in their Phra Khanong residence in Bangkok. The incident took place in a three-story townhouse located in Soi Pridi Banomyong 13, Watthana district.
Discovery of the Crime Scene
Authorities, including forensic officials and rescue workers, arrived at the scene on a Sunday afternoon upon receiving a report from an unidentified person. They found the 52-year-old Frenchman lying in a pool of blood on the first floor, with severe head injuries. A bloodstained metal hammer was found nearby.
Eyewitness Accounts from Neighbors
According to neighbors, the father and son had a loud argument lasting around 15 minutes on the previous Friday evening. Subsequently, the house remained dark and silent. The victim’s wife revealed to the police that the family had previously lived together in the townhouse. However, due to the father’s excessive drinking, she and her son had decided to move out. She further stated that her son frequently had disputes with his father.
Arrest in Thong Lor District
Led by Pol Lt Col Prasert Chan-aksorn, deputy chief at Klong Tan station, the police apprehended the 19-year-old son at a condominium in the Thong Lor area. They discovered bloodstained shoes in his room, strengthening their suspicions. The young man is believed to have had a quarrel with his father before fatally assaulting him with the hammer found at the crime scene.
Previous Mental Health Concerns
Rescue workers informed the authorities that they had visited the townhouse twice before, attempting to take the son for mental health treatment, but he had refused. The teenager is currently being held in police custody, awaiting legal action. The identities of the individuals involved have been withheld.
