Overview of the Murder
In a shocking development, one person has surrendered to the police in connection to the brutal murder and dismemberment of a German property broker in Pattaya, Thailand. Two others have arrest warrants issued against them, as the investigation into this gruesome case continues. The victim, Hans Peter Mack, was discovered in a freezer in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district.
Suspects and Arrest Warrants
Petra Christl Grundgreif is the individual who has surrendered to the police. She was taken to the Nong Prue police station for questioning after contacting the authorities via a lawyer. The arrest warrants were issued for Grundgreif, another German national named Olaf Thorsten Brinkmnan, and a Thai national of Pakistani origin, Zahrouk Kareem Uddin, 27. They have been charged with theft and murder.
Discovery of Mack’s Body
Mack’s dismembered body was found in a freezer at a house in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, on Monday night by detectives following leads from security camera footage. His family had not seen him since July 4. Mack’s Thai wife informed investigators on July 5 that he had left their house to meet a foreign property broker to discuss property sales in Pattaya and Koh Samui.
Car Found and Reward Offered
Mack’s silver Mercedes-Benz E350 coupe was discovered in the parking lot of the CC Condominium on Khao Noi Road in Nong Prue on Sunday morning. The vehicle had stains from a chemical cleanser, which was likely used in an attempt to destroy evidence. Mack’s relatives had previously offered a cash reward of 3 million baht for information leading to his discovery.
Questioning and Additional Suspect
Police questioned Brinkmann’s Thai wife, Jarunee, who worked as a waitress at a restaurant near the crime scene. She appeared stressed and refused to speak to reporters. Authorities had previously questioned the two German nationals, but they denied any knowledge and were released. Police are now expecting to seek court approval for the arrest of one more unidentified German suspect.
Investigation Details
The police allege that Grundgreif and her two accomplices used an electric saw to dismember the victim’s body. The remains were then placed in the freezer at a house in the Chokchai Village 1 housing estate. A red motorcycle was seized by the police for fingerprint examination, as it was found that Brinkman had used it. National police chief Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn has ordered the revocation of the suspects’ visas to prevent them from fleeing the country. A financial examination of the victim revealed that more than 3 million baht had been transferred to various bank accounts.
