Koh Samui is launching the “One Helmet, Change a Life” campaign on November 24, 2025, at Central Samui Shopping Center. This initiative by Koh Samui Municipality and Bo Phut Police will distribute 500 free helmets to enhance motorcycle safety on the island.
On the first day of the long holiday weekend from July 28 to August 2, the nation’s roads witnessed a significant number of accidents, leading to almost 2,000 injuries and 22 fatalities. According to the Royal Thai Police (RTP), the main causes of these accidents were speeding, drowsiness, changing lanes, and dangerous overtaking.
Five Thai citizens were killed in a road accident while passing through Laos on their way to board a train to China. The incident took place in Boten, Luang Namtha province, Laos, as reported by Pol Lt Col Kanyawarat Jullasat, deputy chief of the Chiang Khong border immigration office.
