Expanding Market Opportunities
The Thai government is set to host a trade exhibition in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from August 27–30, 2023. The event, named Thai Trade Exhibition Saudi Arabia 2023, aims to promote Thai small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by providing them with opportunities to expand their trading markets and investment options.
The exhibition will take place at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Centre, serving as a platform for over 100 Thai entrepreneurs and SMEs to showcase their products and services. Exhibitors will focus on various sectors, including food, clothing, wellness, and tourism.
High Purchasing Power in Riyadh
Riyadh was chosen as the host city for the exhibition due to its high purchasing power. Entrepreneurs and SMEs from Saudi Arabia and its neighboring countries are expected to attend, ultimately promoting mutually beneficial business relationships.
Deputy government spokeswoman Rachada Dhnadirek anticipates at least 20,000 visitors and invited buyers to attend the event, making it an excellent opportunity for Thai SMEs to expand their reach.
Strengthening Diplomatic Relations
The Thai Trade Exhibition Saudi Arabia 2023 is a result of collaboration between the Royal Thai Embassy in Riyadh and Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Foreign Trade (GAFT). It will be one of the largest trade exhibitions ever held in the Middle East.
This event symbolizes the improved diplomatic relationship between Thailand and Saudi Arabia, following years of conflict and frayed ties. In January 2022, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha visited Riyadh at the invitation of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi crown prince.
During the visit, representatives from the two countries discussed several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and explored opportunities for enhanced cooperation on labor, trade, and investments. The upcoming trade exhibition is a testament to their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
