Community Management Training Project for the Fiscal Year 2023: Empowering Local Committees

Opening Ceremony

On August 10, 2023, at 09.00 am, the opening ceremony of the Community Management Training Project for the Fiscal Year 2023 was held at the International College of Tourism, Suratthani Rajabhat University, Bo Phut Subdistrict, Koh Samui. Mr. Sutham Samthong, Deputy Mayor of Koh Samui Municipality, presided over the event, acting on behalf of the Mayor of Koh Samui Municipality. The ceremony was attended by executive committee members, municipal council members, heads of government agencies, trainers, municipal employees, and community committees of Bo Phut and Mae Nam subdistricts. The project aimed to enhance knowledge, skills, and experience exchange in community administration, ensuring more effective and beneficial public duties.

Training Sessions and Participants

The training program involved 565 participants from 113 communities across the municipality, who were appointed as community committees on August 10, 2023. The training was conducted over three days as follows:

August 10, 2023: Bo Phut and Mae Nam Subdistricts

195 participants from community committees in Bo Phut and Mae Nam subdistricts attended the first day of the training.

August 11, 2023: Maenam and Na Mueang Subdistricts

The second day of training saw 170 participants from Maenam and Na Mueang subdistricts’ community committees.

August 13, 2023: Taling Ngam, Lipa Noi, and Ang Thong Subdistricts

On the final day, 200 participants from Taling Ngam, Lipa Noi, and Ang Thong subdistricts gathered at the Phetch Samui meeting room, Koh Samui Municipality Office, for their training sessions.

Relevant Laws and Regulations

Mr. Panom Wilairat, Secretary of Koh Samui Municipality, provided insights on relevant laws and regulations concerning the roles and responsibilities of community committees.

Community Planning Processes and Project Proposals

Dr. Chanphon Chuangchoti, Dean of International College of Tourism, Suratthani Rajabhat University, shared knowledge on community planning processes and project proposal writing in accordance with standards.

Report Writing and Financial Management

Ms. Benyanich Wiangwira, Director of Social Welfare Division, offered guidance on report writing, financial management, and regulations for community committees.

The Impact of the Training Project

The Social Welfare Division of Koh Samui Municipality organized the community management training project to enhance leadership skills and professional expertise in community management, foster team building, and promote continuous community development. The acquired knowledge and skills can be effectively applied to manage and develop communities, serving as a crucial mechanism in implementing the municipality’s policies.
