Village Health Volunteer Project to Prevent Iodine Deficiency Disorders

Raising Awareness

The Village Health Volunteer Project to Prevent Iodine Deficiency Disorders focuses on providing knowledge and raising awareness about the importance of consuming iodized salt. Iodine is an essential component in the production of thyroid hormones, which play a crucial role in brain development and overall body growth.

Implementation

Both the Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever and Chikungunya Disease Prevention and Control Campaign and the Village Health Volunteer Project to Prevent Iodine Deficiency Disorders were proposed by village health volunteers belonging to groups 1-5 of the Bo Phut subdistrict. The projects aim to receive financial support and necessary supplies from the Koh Samui Municipality Health Insurance Fund to ensure their successful implementation and continued operation.

By undertaking these joint efforts, the communities within the Bo Phut subdistrict hope to create a healthier and safer environment for their residents, combating both vector-borne diseases and nutritional deficiencies that can have lasting effects on overall wellbeing.
