Arrest and Investigation
A 46-year-old man, Songsak Songsaeng, and his 40-year-old wife, Sunan Nahuanin, were arrested in Pathum Thani, Thailand, on suspicion of murdering their 2-year-old daughter. The couple, originally from Kamphaeng Phet, was taken back to their hometown for further investigation. Authorities found the 2-year-old daughter buried under concrete at her mother’s house.
During questioning at the Bang Khen police station in Bangkok, Songsak admitted to killing his daughter, claiming mental illness as the driving force behind his actions. The police are now investigating the details surrounding the family’s violent history.
Social Media Involvement
The couple’s arrest was a result of a call to action by social media influencer Kanthat Pongpaiboonvej, who alerted the police on September 10th about two girls aged 4 and 12, who were allegedly being physically assaulted by their father. When the police arrived at the family’s apartment in the Bang Khen district, the parents were not home, and the youngest child was missing.
Upon rescue, the two older girls revealed that their parents had assaulted their younger sister, ultimately leading to her death. Local media reported that the couple was apprehended while withdrawing cash at a shopping mall.
Further Confessions
During the investigation, Songsak confessed to having killed four more sons born to one of his three former wives. The murders took place in 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2018, according to a police source. Songsak has fathered a total of ten children with four different women throughout his life.
Ongoing Investigation
Bang Khen police chief Pol Col Anan Vorasart announced that investigators will continue questioning the couple to determine the motive behind the murder of their 2-year-old daughter. Furthermore, the police are looking into the previous murders committed by Songsak as well. The case is still under investigation, and further information will be released as it becomes available.
