The mayor of Muang Bang Kaew municipality in Bang Phli district, Samut Prakan province, Nathapong Taengsuwan, has been apprehended on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe. The arrest occurred during a sting operation at his office on Bua Nakarin Road in tambon Bang Kaew.
Pol Maj Gen Ekkaraj Limsangkat, the commander of the Highway Police Division, faced an unexpected transfer to an inactive post at the Operations Centre of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) on Tuesday. A district chief in Nakhon Sawan, northern Thailand, was arrested on allegations of demanding bribes from a cockfighting operator. Prasit Phattanasitthicheewin, a 59yearold chief of Mae Wong district office, was arrested by a team of police led by Counter Corruption Division (CCD) commander Pol Maj Gen Jaroonkiat Pankew on charges of bribery and malfeasance in office.
