National Police Chief Orders Probe
National police chief Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittiprapas has directed the highway police to look into allegations that drivers of overloaded trucks bearing special bribe-paid stickers are avoiding arrest. Police spokesman Pol Lt Gen Archayon Kraithong stated on Monday that Pol Gen Damrongsak wants the Highway Police Division to swiftly uncover the truth behind these accusations.
Consequences for Corrupt Officers
If any officers are found to be involved in the bribery scheme, they will face severe consequences, including the possibility of being expelled from the force. The Highway Police Division has reported that they regularly cooperate with the Land Transport Federation of Thailand to stop overloaded trucks, according to the police spokesman.
Public Encouraged to Provide Information
Pol Lt Gen Archayon said that the national police chief welcomes any information from the public regarding the alleged bribery operation so that the police can effectively address the issue.

Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn, a list MP-elect of the Move Forward Party, has recently taken to social media to share that he is gathering evidence of the suspected police racket. He alleges that overloaded trucks displaying special stickers are not being detained, and their drivers are avoiding arrest at weighbridges. The stickers in question depict various images such as rabbits, smiling suns, or kung fu pandas and are reportedly available for purchase at a cost of thousands of baht per month.
