Strengthening Cooperation in Creative Industries

The Creative Economy Agency (CEA) has joined forces with 15 public and private partners to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for creative business cooperation. The aim of this collaboration is to boost Thailand’s creative economy, expand business opportunities, improve Thai Soft Power, increase economic value, and establish a comprehensive strategic direction for the nation’s creative industries in the future.

CEA, as the main agency responsible for driving the creative economy in Thailand, consistently supports creative entrepreneurs and industries, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and expertise to adapt to an ever-changing global landscape.

Four Dimensions of Collaboration

The partnership between the public and private sectors focuses on four primary areas:

  1. Community business network, business management, and sales and marketing: Partners such as the College of Management, Mahidol University (CMMU), the Community Development Department of the Ministry of Interior, and Shopee (Thailand) Company Limited will collaborate to study and develop these areas to meet national and international market demands.

  2. Innovative knowledge and technological adaptation: The Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) and PTT Public Company Limited will work together to support the future of creative businesses and industries.

  3. Access to capital resources: The Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Bank), Sinwattana Crowdfunding, SME Development Bank (SME D Bank), and the National Innovation Agency (NIA) will establish joint guidelines to facilitate greater access to financial resources for creative industries.

  4. Creative content industries: Netflix (Thailand) Ltd., Music Copyright (Thailand) Ltd., the Thai Entertainment Content Trade Association, the National Federation of Motion Pictures and Contents Associations (MPC), Radio-Television Broadcasting Professional Federation (RTBPF), and the Thai Film Director Association will cooperate to promote Thai content in the international market.

Supporting the Thai Creative Economy

This partnership is expected to strengthen the local economy, create job opportunities, and generate income from local creative products. By supporting various aspects, such as knowledge, marketing, business management, packaging, product design, advanced technology adoption, and online marketing, the collaboration will help connect local creative products to both domestic and international markets. This will ultimately increase Thailand’s Soft Power, promoting the country’s global image and attracting more tourism and exports.

Creative Economy Foresight & Transformation Seminar

A seminar on “Creative Economy Foresight & Transformation” was organized to foster idea exchange among agencies and stakeholders in the creative economy. Discussions focused on policy formulation, innovation, technological development, creative business management, sustainable business investment guidelines, effective access to capital resources, and the potential of Thailand’s content industry.

This comprehensive collaboration between public and private sector agencies represents a significant step in driving Thailand’s national economy and creative industries towards greater efficiency in line with the national strategy. Through knowledge, creativity, technology, and innovation adoption, Thailand’s potential can be harnessed, leading to comprehensive development in all dimensions and the creation of economic value for the future.
