ONCB Thwarts Drug Smuggling Attempts to Australia

The Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) has successfully intercepted 35 drug smuggling cases at airports and seaports in 2023, leading to the seizure of 973.4 kg of methamphetamine and 70.7 kg of heroin destined for Australia. The secretarygeneral of the ONCB, Wichai Chaimongkol, reported that the Airport Interdiction Task Force (AITF) and the Seaport Interdiction Task Force (SITF) worked closely together on these transnational criminal cases.

Man Seeks Justice Over Unlawful Sale of Car by ONCB

Mai Wongwiangkham, a 55yearold Lao tour guide, found himself in a predicament after being charged by the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) for possessing 14kg of heroin in 2016. The ONCB accused Mai of smuggling the drugs into the kingdom while driving to Nong Khai to pick up Thai tourists bound for Laos. As part of the prosecution efforts, the ONCB impounded Mai’s Chery sedan, valued at approximately 350,000 baht.
