Opening Ceremony

On September 13, 2023, at 09:00 a.m., at Serm Suk Kindergarten, Bo Phut Subdistrict, Koh Samui District, Ms. Sermsuk Chuenban, Director of Serm Suk Kindergarten, presided over the opening ceremony of the Little Smiles Dental Health Project. The event was attended by the Health Security Fund Committee, teachers, students, dental staff from Bang Rak Health Service Center, municipal employees, and public health and environmental officials.

Identifying the Problem

A recent survey of the oral health status of children at Serm Suk Kindergarten revealed problems with decayed primary teeth. This issue highlighted the need for improved oral health education and practices among both children and their parents.

Project Goals

The project aims to instill a love for brushing teeth and build awareness among parents about the importance of oral health care. The ultimate purpose is to ensure that kindergarten children have good dental and oral health, and that parents have knowledge and understanding in taking care of their children’s teeth.

Strategies for Success

Through the Little Smiles Dental Health Project, students will learn about proper dental care techniques, such as brushing and flossing, as well as the importance of regular dental check-ups. Parents will also be educated on how to help their children establish healthy oral care habits, ensuring a strong foundation for their children’s future dental health.

Support from Authorities

Koh Samui Municipality’s Health Security Fund supports the implementation of this project to emphasize the importance of proper oral health care for students. By enabling children to practice correct and diligent oral hygiene, the project aims to promote good personal hygiene and a positive self-image for the future.
